WWE Raw 10/6/08 Results and Review

I was at the Key Arena last night for Raw in person! Lillian Garcia looks amazing, wow, she’s hot. The arena was near capacity, but it’s a small place. I was on tv, sitting next to the Filipino flag that was being held up in front of the hard camera. The place was great, the show was awesome, and Jericho looked really tore up, as did HBK. The divas aren’t as bad as they look on television, and their wrestling matches were enjoyable in person, of course I recorded Raw and here is my review…I will also drop in notes from what I saw at the show, and those notes will be in italics for you to notice.

Dark Match #1

Dolph Ziggler defeated Charlie Haas (Dressed as Roddy Piper)

This match was cool for the live crowd, I thought Roddy Piper was really going to show up, but instead it was Charlie Haas. A good bit of comedy happened, and it wasn’t half bad, and Ziggler gets the pin, although it was really ugly. He reversed the Sleeperhold via kicking off the top rope, however, it just didn’t work out well, and Haas lost anyways.

Jericho’s opening speech was cool, and his face really looked messed up, even from where I was sitting (11 rows from the ring) and Batista’s spear was really effective, from my standing point.

Santino & Beth Phoenix defeated Mickie James & Jamie Noble

Santino showing off his Oklahoma Thunder shirt really hurt us in Seattle, considering that we lost the Sonics to Oklahoma. Santino got booed out of the building, and I lost my voice booing so much!

This match was quick, and easy. Beth Phoenix is amazing in person, she’s built and she’s not bad on the eyes either. The match was fast, and I nearly missed the finish, with Santino rolling up Jamie Noble after being distracted by the glamazon. Afterwards, Santino was chased by Noble only to get William Regal involved and nearly dismantle noble with blows. The crowd started chanting “Fight, Fight, Fight” and eventually the ref stopped the onslaught, as Regal really looked upset.

HBK’s segment initial cheers, but in the arena all eyes were on Noble and Regal in the arena.

Ted Dibiase Jr. defeated Kofi Kingston

Kofi got a moderate pop in the arena, and Priceless got nearly nothing, and it almost seemed like no one cared. C.M. Punk got a huge ovation when he came out, and was definitely more over than anyone else at ringside during this match up.

This match was swift, these two guys are really good in ring. Live things look a lot better, and I can’t believe how high Kofi Kingston can jump. He really gives it all, and reminds me of a non drug using RVD. Ted Dibiase’s finisher is awesome, and when he slapped on the Million Dollar Dream, I was cheering, that’s for sure. Ted Dibiase wins with his combination Million Dollar Dream/ Russian Leg Sweep, which is not a bad finisher if you ask me.

Mark Henry & Kane defeated Matt Hardy & Rey Mysterio Jr.

Hardy got a great pop, Rey not so much. The heels weren’t exactly too hated, and while there was a lot of boo’s there wasn’t nearly as much as I thought there would be. In fact, there was a lot of fan fare for Kane. Hardy got the best pop out of the four men.

This match was interesting, seeing Hardy work on Mark Henry’s leg. It was also cool to see Rey Mysterio’s onslaught in this match. He looked good out there, and was good at selling last night’s chair shot to the head. He didn’t miss a step live, and I was impressed with all four men, as this match was really entertaining to me. Kane won this match with a chokeslam on Hardy as Rey Mysterio was outside the ring. Hardy was knocked off the top rope via Rey Mysterio’s accidental bump, and Kane capitalized. The cheers sound louder on television then they were in the arena, that’s for sure. Great fast tag team match, and it was nice to see.

HBK Shawn Michaels defeated Lance Cade

HBK got a huge ovation, but nearly no reaction for Lance Cade. People went nuts for the ending to this match up.

Lance Cade and HBK put on a mediocre match, and it was interesting to see the way this one unfolded, considering that Shawn Michaels had a hell of a match last night. The table spot was too fast, and was just filler, in my opinion. The match really needed more “no dq” action as this match was supposedly no dq. Shawn Michaels won this one with a million chair shots to Lance Cade. That was about it, Cade really didn’t look good in this match, and I’m surprised that he didn’t win this one. Oh well.

The Great Khali’s segment was lame. Him running off the Jackass show was stupid to me. Inviting Johnny Knoxville to raw will only have Knoxville getting beat up. Sad. Lillian getting kissed by Khali made me a little jealous, haha, she’s hot.

Kelly Kelly defeated Jillian

These girls actually put on a good show in person. I liked the divas in wwe for once in my life. I can’t believe this! I usually hate the divas too, but seeing them perform live, gave me a new found respect for them. This match was the standard divas match with Kelly winning in the end.

Post match Cryme Tyme was dancing in ring with Kelly and invited Michael Cole off camera. On commentary Cryme Tyme, Miz and Morrison, Cole, and The King weren’t paying any attention to the match and were just passing along insults and it was distracting on television.

Batista defeated JBL

Batista defeated JBL in a pretty cool match up. JBL didn’t look as fat as he usually looks, and I was actually impressed with him. Batista is huge in person, HUGE!

This match was cool, Jericho refused to count Batista’s pinfall attempt, and it was great stuff. Throwing in Regal, and having him interfering in the match was great stuff. Also, having Randy Orton at ringside really didn’t do a whole lot besides him looking stupid. Jericho got knocked outside of the ring, a new ref came down, I saw Adamle come out to the ramp, and Batista wins this one in a lot of excitement! I marked out huge for Batista, because I’m a little kid I guess.

Dark Match #2 Batista & Rey Mysterio defeated Kane & Chris Jericho

Those of us in the arena got a real treat to see this dark match. Batista and Rey Mysterio defeated Kane and Jericho in a spotfest, quick match. It was cool to get something special at the end, and the wrestlers really put on a little extra entertainment for the live crowd.

All in all, being in the Arena makes things so much better, I really loved this Raw, and while it didn’t feel the same to watch it on television, it was amazing to see in person.

  1. Is Dolph Ziggler a great wrestler? I have seen him on T.V. just saying "Im Dolph Ziggler." to the veterens to the buissness. You got to watch Cryme Tyme vs. JTG & John Morrison while they were commentating together. Keep writing
