TNA Impact 11/20/08 Results and Review Leadership…Divided

The Main Event Mafia opened up the show with a casket in the ring, and they made it seem that Christian is going back to WWE for sure. I’m not sure if this is real or fake, which is interesting on one note, however, it should be interesting that Christian returns to WWE. I can’t confirm that at all, but it would be nice to see it done.

Rhino comes out now and he starts talking about Christian. It was boring. I didn’t care, and apparently neither did Kevin Nash! Hilarious. Rhino claims to be a veteran? Weird. I’m tired of this storyline, seriously, didn’t the wwe and wcw do this already? Remember the ppv “New Blood” from wcw? Didn’t they do this? Oh well. I’m tired. They basically beat up Rhino, busting him wide open with the Veterans belt. You would think that the backstage area would come down to the ring, but no one really got there. They then shoved Rhino into a casket! That’s right, Rhino was placed into a casket! I kid you not. NO TNA Wrestlers came out to save Rhino, what a load of crap.

Consequences Creed & Jay “Black Machismo” Lethal defeated Sonjay Dutt w/ So cal Val & Tanahashi

A tag team x-division match? This seems too weird, personally, I thought that the Jay Lethal Sonjay Dutt finished their feud? Not only that, when was Tanahashi heel? Seriously, this match makes no sense. Despite this not making sense, the guys put on a show. The x-division is great, these guys throw together a great piece of tandem wrestling moves, with splashes, corkscrews, and quick tags. This is a perfect example of what cruiserweight wrestlers can do, if the promotion allows them to move forward. You gotta give these guys credit, they put on one heck of a match, even if it was shorter than I’d like it to be, and it was thrown together for no apparent reason. Consequences Creed got the pin, out of the blue, and this match up was a bit too short. It was over before I had a chance to even finish my sentence. Oh well, this match didn’t really matter a whole lot.

Cornette forces Eric Young to give up the x-division title to Sheik Abdul Bashir. This turn of events directly relates to the Y2J cruiserweight division victories of 1999. Remember? From January to July, Chris Jericho found every loophole in the book to keep his title after losing it.

The Beautiful People defeated Christy Hemme & Sojourner Bolt

We get a new comer to the TNA Knockouts division. She looks good out there, a little green, but overall looks like she can be a somewhat relevant addition to the knockouts division. She took major shot to the face early on, but she hung in there for her debut. The Beautiful People were focusing on the new girl Sojourner, and the crowd was behind the new girl, but she wasn’t really getting a good comeback. Christy Hemme got the hot tag, and cleaned house. She looked good for once, but she got hit with the knock out and loses to the beautiful people yet again! I was surprised at the way this one turned out.

ODB’s show finally showed up and this thing sucked. ODB can’t act, and this show sucked. I’m tired of this horrible filler. Seriously, stupid filler.

Aj Styles & Samoa Joe defeated The Motor City Machine Guns

This match got off to an exciting start. Within the first five minutes, all members were outside of the ring and flying through the ropes, over the ropes, and onto each other! This was awesome! These guys really threw up a good opening, until commercial break, which featured the new Punisher movie, which I will be seeing, since I’m a huge Marvel Knights fan. The match returns and this thing was vast paced and didn’t really have a lot of psychology to it. It was spot after spot after spot, which is somewhat ok, but seemed like a little too much. Styles hit he Pele and then landed the styles clash for the victory! It was a good match, great stuff here, even if it was a little shorter than I’d like to see. I still don’t like that established tag teams get beat every time. It’d be nice to see an established tag team win as a team, like the old days. Oh well.

Booker T defeated Eric Young

This is interesting on one level. It’s a fresh, new match up. I like this in that aspect, however, I don’t like the fact that we know that this match is going to favor Booker T. There is no way Eric Young is going to win the veteran’s belt, there’s just no way. This match wasn’t so bad, Young focused on grounding Booker T, and Booker looked genuinely frustrated as the x-division wrestler was working him over. However, Booker turned this match around and with a lot of slow moving methodology, took apart Eric Young and defeated him as expected. Booker T wins the match after hitting the ax kick.

Kurt Angle & Kevin Nash defeated Matt “The Blueprint” Morgan & Abyss

Once again, these guys get thrown together into another match up. I don’t like Matt Morgan, but I do give TNA credit with giving him a chance to shine out there in the ring. That’s something that WWE never really did, so TNA is actually doing something different, for a change. This match started with a stale mate between Abyss and Angle. Angle didn’t look so great against the monster Abyss. Matt Morgan got into the match and things were looking great until Angle clipped him and Kevin Nash go in and delivered one heck of a lariat. The match was all Angle and Nash for the most part. However, things turned around and it was left with Nash and Morgan in the ring fighting each other. Beer Money came down, but Abyss knocked them out, and threw Angle in the ring. Beer Money smashes Abyss with a Beer Bottle and Kevin Nash jumps Abyss for the pin! Kevin Nash and Kurt Angle defeated Matt Morgan and Abyss! Once again they lose.

That was it for TNA as far as wrestling is concerned. They end their show with Mick Foley out in the ring announcing the double main event for TNA ppv. This was stupid, why would they end a wrestling show with Foley in the ring talking? This is wrestling! Let’s see some wrestling, for a change! Come on, fire all the TNA writers! Seriously, this is how you end your wrestling show? Foley is ok on the mic, but I’d rather watch one more match up, then to see Foley out there talking up a storm. Foley announces two matches, Booker T, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner & Sting vs. Samoa Joe, and two unnamed opponents Aj styles but if the Main Event mafia loses, Aj Styles will be the Tna Champion! The other match up will be Kurt Angle vs. Rhino! This isn’t huge, I’m just going to tell you that right now.

The cool thing at the end of TNA was Foley getting punked out by Kurt Angle, prompting Jeff Jarrett to come out and defend him. Then Angle punked out Double J and Rhino jumped him!
