Tna Impact 10/22/09 Review

TNA Impact immediately started with Kurt Angle coming down to the ring to start speaking on whatever it is he’s mad at this week. Kurt Angle was bad mouthing the main event mafia and others, it’s lame; I’m sick of Kurt Angle, seriously, that dude needs to take time off from the mic. Rhino came out and started yelling, then Team 3-D came out and started yelling and Security had to be called down. Lame intro to TNA that’s for sure.

Homicide defeated The Amazing Red

Homicide didn’t wait for this match to start in the ring, he attacked Amazing Red on the way down to the ring, and the two battled it out on the floor in this x-division match up. Homicide was on his game, he was attacking at will, hitting a lot of great things, but it was Red who was impressive, dodging bullets to make sure that he’s not losing this match easily. He was motivated and really fast, but Homicide caught him in a rare moment and the match slowed down from the frenzied pace of the beginning to a more traditional speed. Amazing Red got a second wind in this match up, but after picking up steam Homicide hit the Gringo Killer and won this match up. The Gringo Killer is dangerous, that’s for sure.

Matt Morgan defeated Scott Steiner

Scott Steiner started this match with some offense, but Matt Morgan was no selling the whole thing. Morgan than went forward with his brand of offense, but Steiner wasn’t just going to job out to Morgan without a fight and he started to bring things back into focus. Towards the middle of this match, it was obvious that Steiner was tired and the match really slowed down and while Morgan was hitting full speed, Steiner seemed to be gasping for breath and really out of it by comparison. Outside of the ring Steiner messed with Bobby Lashley’s wife and that prompted “The Boss” to run down and fight Steiner. Lashley threw Steiner back into the ring, and Matt Morgan hit the Carbon Footprint, to win the match up.

Samoa Joe & Kevin Nash defeated Aj Styles & Daniels

This match started out with a melee, bodies flying all over the ring, and it was ok to start off. I didn’t mind it too much as the teams fizzled down into a standard tag team match up, with Styles playing the Face in peril of sorts. Joe and Nash were hitting hard, and it seemed as though they were taking liberties with Styles, but it was all part of their offensive plan against the high flyer, grounding him from going big with his fast paced risk taking offense. Styles eventually tagged in Christopher Daniels and things started to turn around, Daniels was easily taking out Nash and Joe with all of his offense. While I still liked him as The Fallen Angel, he was holding his own against two bigger men, for a short time at least. Styles took out Joe and Nash was left with Daniels to finish this match up. Nash hit a huge chokeslam and this match was done. Not a terrible match, but definitely nothing you haven’t already seen before from these four guys.

Awesome Kong defeated Raisha Saeed

Awesome Kong was getting her revenge on her former partner. She started this match with heavy moves and hitting harder than I’ve seen her hit in a while. Saeed was trying to use her speed to get this thing going her way. Awesome Kong was just too much for her though, as Kong was having her way. This wasn’t a total squash though, as Saeed was able to get a few shots in with some hard shots and quick reversals. Kong hit the implant buster and this thing was over, Awesome Kong got her revenge and it looked like it hurt.

Hernandez defeated Rhino

The two big men started this match fast and it was actually quite good on the fly. Hernandez has really gotten good with his timing in ring, and Rhino, well he’s a veteran of the ring and is always on. Overall this was your standard big man match, there were a few moments with fast paced action, but more power moves and misses than anything else. Hernandez hit the big splash off the top rope winning this match up against Rhino with relative ease.

The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Lethal Consequences in an ultimate x match

This match started off fast, as it should have. Both teams were on time, and were fast and furious. This of course was an Ultimate X match and it failed to impress me initially, but it had enough gusto to make an overall good match between these two veteran teams. Lethal Consequences had a lot of great moments in this match up, including chain tag team wrestling, and top rope moves. The match eventually boiled down to the team that could hit the biggest and best tandem top rope impact move and this time around it was The Motor City Machine Guns.

Beer Money defeated The British Invasion by disqualification in a six sides of steel match

This match was stupid. Well, it looked stupid, that’s for sure. This was a six sides of steel match, yet the two teams had to tag in to get into the match up? I hate when they do this, why even have a steel cage if you have to follow the traditional “tag team” rules? It just doesn’t seem right, but that’s ok, the match went forward and it wasn’t terrible. Sure it was flawed, but it wasn’t the worst match I’ve seen in professional wrestling nor Tna. Beer Money seemed out of it, and I didn’t think they could pull it off, but they had this thing nearly sewn up at one point with a double team ddt on Doug Williams. Magnus was able to stop the nearfall and it was Williams that went to the very top of the cage but was stopped by James Storm. Magnus then set up an interesting move and things got really scary when they pulled a Tower of Doom that was completely botched! Someone could’ve died, if you saw this, you know what I’m talking about. Beer Money had this match won but Magnus knocked out the ref! A team of refs came running down to stop the match and nothing was really resolved initially.

The British Invasion loses a CAGE match via Disqualification? This makes no sense, seriously, no sense. This really made me hate TNA, beyond compare. How do you get Disqualified in a STEEL CAGE MATCH! SERIOUSLY! TNA SUCKS!

Kurt Angle came out to the ring and called out Desmond Wolf, a new guy that attacked Kurt Angle unprovoked! I like that sort of introduction to new guys. Kurt Angle then started heading back to the backstage area, and was blindsided by this new guy, Desmond Wolf! I liked it, finally, a new guy that just picks fights…like WWE did with their new guy…on Smackdown. Oh well, this thing turned into a brawl right away and it was Desmond that was impressive, with an obvious mean streak.

TNA wasn’t all that great this week. Angle getting pummeled was cool, other than that, a forgettable night of pro-wrestling.
