WWE Monday Night Raw 5/17/10 Review

I completely forgot about the TNA review and ppv, because I was busy, so forget it happened. From what I hear, it wasn’t very good anyways.

The show opened up with Bret “The Hitman” Hart coming down to the ring. It’s also important to note that Raw was in Toronto Canada.

The Hitman informed everyone that he wasn’t going to be wrestling tonight, despite being called out by The Miz last Raw.

Chris Jericho came out to interrupt, and what not…I lost track of stuff looking or the new Murs record.

The night had several different commercials and sponsors, in a night tht wasn’t supposed to have any. Of course they were all for wwe and what not, and parodied real commercials.

Looks like the wwe likes to gamble, or play cards or something because they had a “pick your poison” match, where two opponents at Over the Limit would pick their opponents “opponent”. I know, it’s odd, but whatever.

Edge defeated Christian

Christian has been working both shows, and it seems like the brand split didn’t matter. Christian was running straight through Edge for the most part, but managed to hurt his shoulder outside of the ring, which is a common point for Christian matches. The crowd was red hot for this match, and both guys put on some great counters and overall wrestling, despite the short amount of time. After some close falls, it was Edge that managed to win this match up. Not a four star classic, but a great overall opener that kept my attention for a Raw match.

The Undertaker defeated Edge by Countout

Randy Orton didn’t pick Christian, he picked Undertaker and when Edge deliberately got counted out, Christian came out and threw him in the ring. The Undertaker than knocked him out, and that was the end of the night.

I hate no commercial Raw events.
Mark Henry was supposed to face Mark Henry, but instead got trampled by Batista before the match could even happen.

Ted Dibiase Jr defeated Yoshi Tatsu

Tatsu got worked over in this match, despite getting some offense in during the match up. Dibiase hit Dream Street and that was that. The match wasn’t all that great, but I liked the fact that VIRGIL came back. That’s right, THE VIRGIL is now helping Ted Dibiase Jr.

Bret Hart defeated The Miz for the United States Championship

The Hart Dynasty helped Bret hart overcome the odds and once again get the United States Championship! That’s right, he won the match with a lot of help from the Hart Dynasty…The Miz basically got jobbed the crap out. Wow. I have no idea what they are going to do with the United States Title now.

Layla, Michelle McCool and Maryse defeated Eve & The Bella Twins

This match was relatively boring, too much time was spent on dropkicks…seriously. Maryse tagged herself in and got the pinfall victory after the French Kiss. I guess it was ok…I don’t know, I don’t care about the divas in wwe.

Randy Orton vs Jack Swagger No Contest

This match was quite a high caliber match, and was comparable to their ppv outing they had. While Orton seemed to be a little less abrasive, and Swagger was looking quite dominant for a good part of this match, the Viper was striking on all cylinders. The crowd was going nuts, and Swagger, despite nearly losing this match up looked Strong.

Swagger got with an RKO but Edge was there to disrupt the match and hit a Spear.

Evan Bourne & Gail Kim defeated Zack Ryder & Alicia Fox

This match had Ryder taking some serious shots against Bourne, and Gail Kim hitting some nice high spots against Fox. This match had some interesting counters, and Ryder getting involved was interesting to see when the divas were wrestling. Overall though, I didn't really like this match. Gail Kim won the match with a pinfall, and this match was done. A standard mixed tag team match, didn't mean a whole lot.

John Cena vs Sheamus no contest

I'm so sick of John Cena. I'm so tired of seeing him wrestling, it's getting ridiculous. Sheamus further solidified himself as a pale heel, and was really bringing it to Cena during this match up. Cena was doing the classic, super cena, stuff, and no one seemed to care...well, the crowd was loud, I just wasn't into it at all. The "Let's Go Sheamus" chant was huge at one point, with Cena getting booed for his comebacks.

Cena threw Sheamus out of the ring with an Attitude Adjustment, but Batista was there to catch cena and drop him with a spine buster. Batista would go on to beat up Cena yet again, and will most likely lose at the ppv.

This match had rails, it was going somewhere, I actually was watching, then when Batista beat him up, and the match was thrown out. Batista putting on The Rings of Saturn was a nice touch, as Raw went off the air.

I like the build, but I don't know if the match will actually be any good.

Raw was ok, nothing too grand.
