WWE Friday Night Smackdown 9/10/10 Review

Undertaker cut a stupid promo, CM Punk came out, they'll have a match later...Undertaker sucks these days.

Jack Swagger defeated MVP

MPV continues his road to being a sucka. Where's Booker T when you need him? Swagger was all over MVP's left ankle and he was hitting on all cylinders in this match up. MVP and Swagger fought on the outside and after a dropkick to the stairs that hit MVP's knees, this match was over. Swagger wins...but does anyone care? Speaking of Swagger, there's this dude at my local mall that works at the Jewelry Store that has me convinced he is Jack Swagger. Just saying.

Laycool made fun of Kaval...it was funny. I love Laycool....not as wrestlers as comedy agents on a terrible smackdown show.

Alberto Del Rio defeated Matt Hardy

Matt hardy is fat. I hope they fire him soon. He's losing his hair, he's not as fast in ring, and it showed against ALberto Del Rio. This match had a logical conclusion with Del Rio hurting Matt Hardy's left arm and then throwing him into the post and winning with his submission hold. I liked it. Del Rio's probably the best new character that WWE has created in a very long time. I loved it! He's my new favorite heel!

Drew McIntyre defeated Kaval

Kaval and McIntyre were on point, they worked well and they had a lot of counters. Kaval didn't just roll over Drew, and Drew didn't just roll over Kaval. The two fought to a nice match, one that most probably did not fast forward. Kaval hit a sick kick off the top rope and got the crowd going nuts when McIntyre kicked out! Kaval went for the Warior's Way and then jumped on McIntyre for but was completely Powerbombed out of his boots! Kaval took some damage in this match, and the crowd was oooohing and awwwing. McIntyre hit his DDT finisher and put away Kaval. This was NO easy task, and both men took some major hits. Kaval beat him clean...wow.

Kofi Kingston & Chris Masters defeated Dolph Ziggler & Chavo Guerrero

This match was a nice tag team, with some decent offense and back and forth action. I didn't hate it, and it didn't really do much for me. While I do enjoy them continuing the story lines from Superstars here, I didn't think that this did much for the stories other than elevating Masters and Chavo into the Smackdown fray. I liked it fair enough. Kofi won with Trouble in Paradise, not bad.

The Undertaker defeated CM Punk

This main event was definitely something cool to see live, since it had the PPV match up feel, at least on paper. This slow moving match took a while to set up anything good for either man, and while it wasn't an epic clash, there was enough action to make it a main event on Smackdown. The ending was great, with Undertaker catching Punk off the top rope into a huge chokeslam, with punk kicking out! Afterwards, Punk hit the GTS out of a Tombstone reversal, but didn't pin right away and that cost him. Punk was placed into the Hells Gate Triangle Choke and that was that. Undertaker wins a very tough match against punk.

I'll admit, I didn't have strong feelings for Smackdown on paper, but this was a good overall show. I actually enjoyed watching this night of wrestling. There were some good matches, a nice main event, a little comedy, and overall a quality show. Despite the stupidity with promo's and histories and constant commercials for Cena's new movie, that no one is going to see.
