WWE Friday Night Smackdown 10/22/10 Review

The show started with both Bragging Rights team and Teddy said that the superstars will make the matches tonight. The Miz got on the mic and cut a promo, and that was that...setting up matches...you'll read/see what they were.

Big Show, Kofi Kingston, and Rey Mysterio defeated Ezekiel Jackson, Sheamus, and The Miz

The night sounded interesting, and the match opened up with a good clash of styles. Sheamus and Mysterio started this match and it was quite good, and I was impressed for once with Sheamus. Sheamus actually worked really well in the ring. My gripe was that each team kept their "shirts" on, and NO I don't mean that in a gay way, it's just odd to see such "pride" for brands. Standard six man tag fare, but man, it was entertaining and worked out quite well with all the styles mixing it up. Rey Mysterio eventually got the pin, and it was quite good. It's odd to see Team Smackdown getting so much prowess here, and it's understandable, they're stacked.

Jack Swagger defeated Santino

Santino faced Swagger, and I loved the Eagle! I also like Swagger's "All American, American, American, American" gimmick and wish Kurt Angle would come back to challenge him. Santino hit the Cobra on The Eagle and Hornswoggle hit the tadpole splash on the Eagle! In ring, Santino actually had some quality back and forth action with Swagger. Swagger actually couldn't contend with the offense! but before the Cobra could get hit, the Ankle Lock was put on and Santino tapped out.

HAHAHAH The Dashing Cody Rhodes segments just keep getting more and more insane, and I love it. They remind me of Rick "The Model" Martel's commercials for "Arrogance", oh man, great stuff.

Alberto Del Rio defeated John Morrison

This match wasn't all that great, I felt that there was a bit of hesitation from both wrestlers. Del Rio is adjusting well to the new WWE style, and it's interesting to see him adapt, and NOT utilize lucha moves. Now, his win was impressive, he not only countered Starship Pain he hit the Twisting Armbar, and it was awesome. The guy is quite the heel man, wow, despite a slow burning match, the ending was quite good. I loved it. Wow...wrestling is actually good.

CM Punk defeated Edge via Disqualification

This match was oka t best. It wasn't all that great at all, it was slow moving and lacked impact, until the end broke down. Edge was ready to hit the Spear but that prompted The Miz and Alex Riley to run down and clear the ring. That prompted each member of each team to get to the ring and mop up! It was awesome! Each member attacked each other one by one and it looked like Swagger was standing tall but after a Bro-Kick it seemed like Raw had the upper hand again! The Big Show got the last laugh, getting the best of Zeke....or so I thought. The Bro-Kick once again hits but only to get thwarted by the 619!!!! Oh wait...the GTS...oh wait, the SPEAR!!! I'm telling you, the post match was far better than the match, and the crowd was going nuts, I was going nuts, it was a well timed pice of wrestling...wow!

Laycool came out and dressed up as Natalya and Bret Hart!!! It was comedy gold! I loved it!!!!

Natalya & Kelly Kelly (i think) defeated Laycool

This match was ok. It was funny to see Michelle McCool dressed as Hart wrestling, but other than that, this match was an unfortunate mess.

Randy Orton defeated Kane

This match was slow moving, and proved to me yet again that Kane sucks and shoudl retire. Orton took some punishment, but it was nearly telegraphed that he would win, which isn't necessarily a good thing. Orton looked to be defeated but the lights went out and Orton hit the RKO to get the win.

Post match, The Undertaker came from under the ring and pulled Kane under...lame....I hate this stupid crap! I hate it. Oh well.

Despite a few missteps, I liked this show a lot, in fact, it was better than Raw, and right on par with how much I enjoyed the main event of TNA Impact this week. I still don't care about Kane and Undertaker, but whatever. Smackdown wasn't half bad, and once again, I will say that there is no need for a brand split, there just is no need.
